Following up on our recent post about RGS's Cryptocurrency AI Thematic Investing Solution, our CTO Balázs Donát Bessenyei shares a bit about the engineering challenges and innovations that power this offering.

From an engineering perspective, building a truly comprehensive and insightful thematic investment solution requires a robust, scalable, and adaptable architecture. Our goal was to go beyond simple keyword searches and create a system that could deeply understand the complex relationships within any ecosystem and identify companies with both direct and indirect exposure. While we highlighted crypto, this approach has proven successful across numerous themes, including EVs, AI, sustainable agriculture, and more.

Our focus is always on using the "Rule of Least Power," employing the simplest tool necessary to achieve the desired outcome, but never compromising on performance or accuracy. This approach ensures stability and reliability, while also allowing us to tap into more advanced techniques when needed to uncover truly unique investment opportunities.

At the core of our solution is our Narrative Intelligence Tool. While we have a Products and Services Industry Classification System (PSICS) which allows for the structured analysis of company revenue data across standardized product categories, our Narrative Intelligence Tool extends this analysis far beyond revenues. It leverages cutting-edge generative AI techniques to process thousands of documents in hours to days. This allows us to extract structured data from all publicly available information and avoids biases inherent in manual analysis or pre-defined keyword lists. Importantly, we use an extensive, domain-expert-written, bespoke prompt when analyzing each and every company document, allowing us to capture connections and insights that would otherwise be missed. This granular approach allows us to capture the more nuanced aspects of a company's involvement in the target space.

When companies work with us, they typically want a combination of resources: the "traditional" revenue-only PSICS feed, the output of our Narrative Intelligence Tool, and bespoke analyst work all combined to create a powerful, multifaceted view.
